I designed a social media that helps users reduce screen time and digital noise. Personally, I wanted to stay connected with those most important to me, without the distraction of other content and ads that could distract me into endless scrolling.

By only allowing 8 friends, Huit ensures that users only focus on the most important updates from the most important people in their lives. The “friends list” can conveniently fit in just one screen.
Just like emails, social posts should be chronological, only be seen once and “marked as read”. Old updates are automatically turned black and white to reduce distraction. Users are only allowed 8 updates per day, with 8 friends that’s a maximum of 64 updates per day.
MOCKUPS
Anthropologist Robin Dunbar says that humans put people in their social circles into layers based on strength of emotional ties. The closest layer has 5 people. Add a couple more for family members, and you have the perfect number of 8.
Huit is a social media purpose designed to be used less. Posts are fewer but more meaningful, systematic but efficient and are never accompanied by ads.
